Dax J

On March 21, producer and sound engineer Beka Wu returns to Bassiani alongside the masters of powerful marathon sets—Tbilisi techno heavyweight Kancheli and the British producer, record collector, and the visionary behind Monnom Black, Dax J, with a background of pirate radio stations and underground raves, and heavy influences of the raw sounds of UK jungle, grime and garage. Renowned for his razor-sharp ear for sound design, Dax J's productions often carry strong political themes. His fourth album, Soul Enforcer, released in 2022, responds to the ongoing war in Ukraine. His latest release, War Is Peace, Freedom is Slavery, Ignorance is Strength (October 4, 2024), references the phrases from Orwell's 1984, where language is manipulated to control and oppress. The album provides a stark reflection of modern society, where truth is distorted and freedoms are compromised—echoing the very tactics Orwell warned against. Teaming up for a special back-to-back set will be GWÄN, a resident of Berlin's queer collective Fluid Vision, known for high-energy, rhythmic, and dynamic sets, and a vinyl purist Comethisfar, with roots in jazz, breakbeat and electronic music, drawing inspiration from late 90s techno, crafting unique interpretations that bridge past and present eras. Mancho returns to Horoom alongside an extraordinary representative of Georgian queer culture, Valley Dolly and Hamatsuki, with releases on Horoom Records, Mind Controlled Rectifier, Fantastic Planet, Summoning, and Apnea.
