Peter Vuust Biography
Professor Peter Vuust, Ph.D. is a unique combination of a top-level jazz musician and scientist. He leads the Danish National Research Foundation's center for "Music In the Brain" and holds joint appointments as full professor both at the Danish Royal Academy of Music and at the Dept of Clinical Medicine Aarhus University.
He has played on more than 100 albums and has been a sideman for international jazz stars such as Lars Jansson, Tim Hagans, John Abercrombie, Dave Liebman, and many more. He is also known for collaborations with high-profile pop artists, most recently Karl William and Dopha, and is currently enjoying great success with the ensemble 5 X Vuust, which is touring across Denmark with jazz interpretations of Paul Simon’s songs.
He has released seven albums under his own name. His next project is a quartet album with Lars Jansson, Claus Waidtløw, and Morten Lund. In 2009, he received the Jazzselskabet i Aarhus 'Gaffel'-award, and in 2014, he was nominated for a Danish Music Award for the album September Song.
