Mike Gruwell Biography
Mike Gruwell is an Atlanta drummer with more than 35 years experience rooted in jazz, funk and punk rock.
Mike is the drummer for Red Hot Empty with several recent releases, including World of Calamity, True Pecking Order, Peckish, Crankshaft Sensor, the Burden EP and the Corridors album. The melodic thrash punk band plays frequent shows in the Atlanta area. Mike is also the drummer for the McMansions, a surf punk band out of Atlanta, as well as Jon Q Public out of Ohio.
Since 2019, he has focused on remote recording projects out of GTown Studio, including recording and releasing his own albums, including That GTown Sound & By The Numbers.
Mike was previously based out of Seattle, working his way through jazz combos, original punk bands and funk rock bands as well as playing in church in the ’80s. In the ’90s he was a member of several original rock and funk bands until moving to Georgia in 1997.
