About this concert
This show is a fundraiser to keep the La Veta Mercantile alive and thriving.
Ms. Lannie Garrett has been entertaining audiences in and around Colorado for decades. This dynamic redhead can change her feathers easily, from a glamorous, sequined chanteuse fronting her jumpin’ 10 piece big band to switching to her comedic side with her hilarious, country spoof, The Patsy DeCline Show. No matter what persona, her charismatic stage presence, sense of humor and ability to connect with the audience always shine through.
Lannie has headlined all over the Rocky Mt. region and beyond, from Denver to Aspen, NYC to Los Angeles. In her critically acclaimed symphony show, she headlined at prestigious Boettcher Concert Hall and world renowned, Red Rocks Amphitheater with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra. She has worked with a diverse group of entertainers from The Four Tops, (Bill Cosby, yes, his reputation is all true!) B.B. King, Ramsey Lewis, Leslie Jordan, and Jay Leno, just to name a few. Lannie even earned a standing ovation when she opened a show for her musical idol, Mr. Ray Charles.
In 2016, Lannie was inducted into The Colorado Music Hall of Fame, along with Glenn Miller. (John Denver, Judy Collins, etc) That same year she was inducted into The Colorado Tourism Hall of Fame to honor her ownership of her namesake Denver nightclub, Lannie’s Clocktower Cabaret.
Although Lannie says she’s pretty much retired and kicking back to enjoy life in our precious little town, this evening she is volunteering her time and talent to this fundraising night to help keep the La Veta Mercancile alive and thriving! She’s bringing with her a group of stellar musicians, featuring virtuoso, Roger Campbell on clarinet (ala Benny Goodman) and his After Midnight Band to back her up and present us with a joyous, jumpin’ show that pays homage to the SWINGING sounds of Benny, Ella, Peggy, Count, Duke and many more...Benny, Basie and BEYOND!
Featuring:
Lannie Garrett - Vocals
Roger Campbell - Clarinet
Rick Weingarten - Vibraphone
Mike McCullough - Guitar
Dwight Thompson - Bass
Todd Reid - Drums
Justin Adams - Piano
