Join singer-songwriter Jo Davie for a special evening of music on Saturday May 10th as she launches her debut EP ‘Nothing Comes Free’ at Studio 188!
Supported by the extraordinary Paulina, and joined on stage by her band, Jo will perform with guitar, drums, bass, and exquisite three-part harmonies, bringing audiences into her delicately curated world. The EP itself exemplifies this experience - recorded by Sam Cromack (Ball Park Music), each track features Jo’s vulnerable yet powerful vocals, technical skill and poignant lyricism.
Jo has won audiences and accolades across Australia and become a regular on the festival circuit, performing at Woodford Folk Festival (QLD), Sydney Festival (NSW), The National Folk Festival (ACT), Caloundra Music Festival (QLD) and many more. She has recently taken her career to new heights, winning the 2024 Carol Lloyd Award and supporting ARIA-winning artist Katie Noonan to sold-out audiences at QPAC Concert Hall Brisbane, Sydney Festival, Bleach Festival and Darwin Festival. In conjunction, Jo has gained recognition as lead vocalist of folk/jazz ensemble ‘Cigány Weaver’ (nominated for 2 x National Live Music Awards) and as a long-term band member for award-winning artist Asha Jefferies with whom she has toured the US, UK and Europe.

Jo Davie Biography
Graced with jazz sensibilities, exceptional vocal technique and a four-octave range, vocalist Jo Davie offers up genuine story-telling. Bursting onto the Australian scene as runner-up to the 2018 Folk Alliance Young Artist of the Year, she is winning audiences and accolades across Australia, with her unique style and vibrant stage presence. Recently, Jo supported ARIA award-winning artist Katie Noonan at Brisbane’s QPAC Concert Hall, Sydney Festival, Bleach Festival and Darwin Festival, alongside a run of Victorian shows. Whether performing her own songs, soaring above her raucous band 'Cigány Weaver', or playing in Asha Jefferies’ band, Jo sings with heartfelt simplicity, technical skill and impressive versatility. Having showcased at festivals including Woodford Folk Festival (QLD), The National Folk Festival (ACT), Bello Winter Music Festival (NSW), Cullulleraine Music Festival (VIC), and Tablelands Folk Festival (FNQ), her career has already taken her across Australia. Above all, Jo’s primary focus is to share stories, hoping to put a little bit of herself into every song she performs.
