Event websiteAbout this concert
The Imaginary Suitcase is a folk-rock-singer-songwriter trio composed of Laurent Leemans (La Vierge du Chancelier Rolin, Ceilí Moss) on vocals, guitar and harmonica, Janaina Costa (OK Lion) on vocals and Jean-François Bachely (OK Lion, 42 Hours) on guitar.
Founded in 2012 by Laurent to bring out songs that had not found their place in the playlist of his other bands, The Imaginary Suitcase remained a solitary project for a long time, but in 2021, Laurent met Janaina and remembered how much he loves F/M vocal harmonies, and that's how The Imaginary Suitcase became a duo. In 2024, it was Jean-François' turn to add a shimmering lead guitar to Laurent's chords.
The result? Songs built around refined harmonies between Laurent's deep voice and Jana's lighter one, two equally powerful, tender, sarcastic, melancholic or angry but always intense voices, deceptively simple guitar chords and razor-sharp lyrics about life, death and the unsettling moments in between. On stage, they will take you through a range of varied emotions, because after all, life is sometimes grotesque and sometimes tragic, Jana and Laurent often blurring the line between song and stand-up. Eclectic shows, but always coherent.
Since 2012, The Imaginary Suitcase has released 9 albums, 3 EPs and a live show, and played about 400 concerts in Belgium, France and the Netherlands. In October 2024, The Imaginary Suitcase recorded a 5-track EP under the professional and caring direction of Saule, whom we met in the spring of this year during a collective music project for a short film in Arlon. To be released in the spring of 2025, with a bunch of concerts on the horizon.
More than ever, to be continued…

The Imaginary Suitcase Biography
The Imaginary Suitcase is the one in which Belgian singer-songwriter Laurent Leemans keeps his dead or barely breathing illusions and the cherished memories of fantasized lives. Laurent used to be the singer of folk-rock outfit Ceilí Moss from 1996 to 2015 and of arty-new wave band La Vierge du Chancelier Rolin in the nineties. This solo project started in 2012, when the desire to breathe life into some Ceilí Moss leftovers grew stronger than the fear of becoming the zillionth crashing bore who whines his small time existentialism over two and a half chords.
What to expect ? A bittersweet mixture of passion, sincerity, melancholy and dark energy carried along (not always) crystal clear melodies by a strong, low, versatile and powerful voice, that will as easily caress, tickle or scratch, deceptively simple guitar chords and lyrics that deal with life, death and the confusing bits in between with a healthy portion of sarcasm.
