What fans are saying

August 5th 2025
The band faced and surmounted ome challenges (none of their own making). They read the audience and played to the moment. This was no easy feat. 1. Context: The Park City Kimball Arts Fest is much more about silent, still "fine art" than music. 2. Setting: They played at the smaller of two bandstands at the top of Main Street, accessible only by walking through all the other attractions of festival and town, an element that thins the crowd. Weather: Their 2-o'clock spot was during the peak heat of the day, and onlookers could not escape being in full sun. With all that going on, the performance was strong enough to retain and gain listeners. Real pros.

The Proper Way Biography

The Proper Way is a trio of multi-instrumentalists and singers based out of Ogden, UT. While we are often described as an "Americana" or "acoustic" band, the driving low end of an electric piano and the beat of an electric drum pad make us much more than just an acoustic trio.

We're as likely to play a classic Willie Nelson song as we are Lizzo or the Avett Brothers or Elton John or John Craigie or Tyler Childers or The Bee Gees or Queen or Prince or John Prine or The Band or the Wood Brothers or a bunch of hymns or Jason Isbell or Tracy Chapman.

If you need a diverse range of music for your private event, backyard concert, or wedding, hit that "contact" button up top and send us a message.

They established themselves as The Proper Way in 2016, when a promoter invited them to come for a series of shows in Lake Tahoe.

After touring nonstop for two years, the band joined forces with friend and fellow singer-songwriter Carrie Myers to release "Ain't No Good Thing Ever Dies," a collection of songs by Bob Dylan and Tom Waits, in 2018. The musical connection with Myers was so obvious, and they had so much fun performing and recording as a trio, that Myers joined the band shortly afterwards.

Their most recent release is All Is Not Lost, a collection of songs by the Scottish indie band Frightened Rabbit.
