Multiple award-winning Cara Dillon returns with acclaimed musician Sam Lakeman, to captivate us once again with their exquisite live performance. Throughout an enviable career which has seen them explore opportunities to tread many different paths ? from releasing folk crossover albums on indie label Rough Trade; recording on Disney soundtracks to collaborations with orchestras and even leading dance DJs ? Cara has continuously chosen to firmly plant herself within the landscape of her Irish cultural heritage. Cara and Sam?s enduring musical partnership has ensured they have remained at the very pinnacle of their trade for well over two decades.
This performance will feature songs from her latest release, Coming Home?, as well as a selection from her back catalogue. On her latest album, Cara effortlessly blurs the lines between spoken word and song to stunning effect, exploring profoundly personal memories, her native Co. Derry and the people, places and customs she holds closest to her heart; revealing a newly found freedom to express herself within the tiniest of details and life?s larger mysteries.

Great show at the Birnam Arts Centre with Cara Dillon and Sam Lakeman. Lovely clear acoustics in there and everyone's near to the stage, even if you're at the back.
Looking forward to seeing them in Edinburgh at Xmas with their band.

Born in Dungiven and surrounded and infused with the rich cultural heritage of her native County Derry, Cara has risen to become one of the finest exponents of traditional Irish song anywhere in the world. Possessing a rare and unique voice that has been lauded since her very beginnings winning the All Ireland singing trophy aged only 14. Together with her husband and musical partner, Sam Lakeman, she has successfully steered an eclectic musical path defying the typical pigeonholes that hinder most artists in her genre. Celebrated for entwining traditional and contemporary elements she has earned both commercial success and astonishing critical acclaim.
Her most recent album "Coming Home" was shortlisted for the Northern Ireland Music Prize in November 2024. The subsequent live show, which features a stunning blend of spoken word, song, and storytelling, has enjoyed 3 sell-out UK and Irish tours since Cara first performed her new pieces in Autumn 2023. Including selling out the Grand Opera House in Belfast, The Guildhall in Derry and Kings Place in London among others.
