Shanelle Gabriel Biography
Shanelle Gabriel is an internationally touring poet, singer, education consultant, and lupus warrior from Brooklyn, NY. Widely known for featuring on HBO's Def Poetry Jam, she has shared her fusion of poetry and soulful singing on stages with individuals such as Nas, Grand Puba, Jill Scott, Stacy Abrams, Nikki Giovanni, Diane Von Furstenberg, and more. She has shared her talent on countless global stages (from Lincoln Center to the Vatican), and has crafted poetry & artistic messaging for brands and companies including Pandora, NFL Draft, BET and Hershey among others. With over 18 years as an educator and Masters in Education from Teachers College at Columbia University, she works to transform the lives of the next generation through multicultural educational/ DEI trainings & programmatic consulting while serving as an advocate for lupus, a disease she has battled since 2004. As a patient advocate, she has spoken alongside the President of the NIH, lobbied for patient rights on Capitol Hill, featured in USA Today on the importance of diversity in clinical trials, serves as a member of the Lupus Voices Council (the patient advisory board of the Lupus Accelerating Breakthroughs Consortium), and has lectured at hospitals and biopharma companies on improving diversity and patient access to quality healthcare. Shanelle is the mother of three musical and poetry-centered ALBUMS, which are available on all streaming platforms.
