BELLFAST Biography
BELLFAST is a Japanese seven-piece folk metal band featuring a violinist and a flutist.
The band was formed in Nagoya, Aichi, Japan in 1993. In their early years, the band played progressive hard rock with Irish/Celtic elements as a four-piece band, and debuted in 2001 with the six-song EP "Faraway Prayers" (Mustang Records).
In 2006, a violinist and a flutist joined the band and it evolved into a strong seven-piece folk metal band.
BELLFAST signed with King Records in 2010 and has released three full-length studio albums, the first "Insula Sacra" (2010), the second "Triquedraco" (2017), and the third “The Warrior Celt” (2024).
BELLFAST's musical style is based on the roots music of the 70s and 80s, such as British/Irish hard rock, NWOBHM, US power metal, and Scandinavian metal, with influences from modern folk/Viking metal.
