Event websiteAbout this concert
The dock’s been here a long time—before the tiki bar, before the Shanty, before the old Gulf fueling station that once filled the workboats. A lot has changed, but the tide still rolls in, the drinks still flow, and the music still echoes off the pilings.
I’ll be at the Big Owl the first Thursday of each month, playing solo and unplugged—no big stage, no frills, just me, a guitar, and the stories that belong to this place. Gritty originals, unexpected covers, and a little history in between. The kind of set that cuts through the noise.
Pull up a stool, let the water do the talking, and let’s make a night of it.
🎟️ No cover – just show up. See you at the dock.

J. Coursey Willis Biography
Described as “The imagined child of Jim Morrison and Alanis Morissette,” J. Coursey Willis is a haunting alternative rock figure, known for his poignant lyrics, brooding sound, and galvanizing performances. His music delves into addiction, despair, heartbreak, and tragedy, yet there is beauty amidst the darkness. With a voice reminiscent of Eddie Vedder and Layne Staley, audiences appreciate his nostalgia, raw honesty, and introspective songs. Willis formed a permanent production team and touring band with members of Candlebox and Jimmie’s Chicken Shack, having previously worked with other prominent musicians. His devoted following praises his evocative voice and poetic lyrics, comparing his recent single “Niles” to a modern-day “Ballad of Curtis Loew.”
