Benny Rowe

Western Australian born blind artist Benny Rowe has delighted fans for over a decade sharing his stories in music. As a singer songwriter, story teller, guitarist, producer and disability sports personality he has warmed the hearts of listeners within the country blues and rock genre.

Benny was diagnosed with a degenerative eye condition called Retinitis Pigmentosa, which over time leads to complete blindness. Benny along with his music could not let it hinder his motivation to follow his path, representing Australia in a Paralympic sport called Goalball which travelled him around the world. Benny co-founded the organisation Goalball WA which still operates today and currently leads Blind Sports WA on its mission to provide people who are blind or vision impaired access to sport and recreation. Benny advocates for people with disability to engage in their community and take part in the fabric of which society is built to live rich and fulfilling lives.

Benny has since lost all of his functional vision which has fuelled his passion to advocate for access and inclusion across the community, setting up a thriving inclusive music program whilst in his role as access & inclusion officer at the City of Cockburn. This has spark his passion to address some of the access barriers to music and the performing musician within the industry, and cofounding the organisation WA Music Access. .
Benny continues to create platforms for people with disability where their stories can be representative of our community.
