About this concert
Charming Disaster
Brooklyn-based musical duo Charming Disaster was formed in 2012 by Ellia Bisker and Jeff Morris. Inspired by the gothic humor of Edward Gorey and Tim Burton, the murder ballads of the Americana tradition, and the dramatic flair of the cabaret, they write playfully macabre songs that tell stories about death, crime, myth, magic, folklore, science, and the occult. In their theatrical live performances, they combine vocal harmonies and clever lyrics with ukulele, guitar, and virtuosic foot percussion. Charming Disaster’s music has been featured on the podcast Welcome to Night Vale;, they have opened for legendary cello-rock ensemble Rasputina, goth icon Voltaire, and punk cabaret duo The Dresden Dolls; and their theatrical, entertaining live performances have captivated audiences across the United States. Recent appearances include Joe's Pub at The Public Theater in NYC, Brooklyn’s historic Green-Wood Cemetery, the Rochester Fringe Festival, the Edgar Allan Poe Museum in Richmond, VA, Cleveland's Wizbang Circus Theatre, and the Coney Island Sideshow stage.
Mercury Trio
Milwaukee’s most haunting piano trio, Mercury Trio is the combined efforts of Erika Guenther (violin), Adam Sterr (viola), and Kate Stocks (piano) centered around a mutual fondness for resplendent music and all things dark, campy, and whimsically macabre. Cultivating a community of fellow weirdos and sub-culture enthusiasts around exquisite music that is too often made inaccessible. Dear reader, close your eyes, picture the most glorious version of yourself in a shadowy parlor at midnight, drink in hand, deep in conversation with Morticia Addams, David Lynch, and the cast of Young Frankenstein. The music you hear playing through the din? That’s Mercury Trio.

“Charming Disaster are unusual, spooky, wickedly talented, and completely unafraid to delve deep into the underworld in exploration of all things lurking in the dark...they have a knack for making the macabre fun.” –Mixed Alternative
“The kind of soundtrack you'd expect to find on a 1930s cartoon about a Prohibition-era voodoo funeral...just be careful if they offer you a drink." –Goldmine
“A goth-cabaret folk vaudeville duo from Brooklyn in the dark cabaret mould of Tiger Lillies and Dresden Dolls.” –Outside Left
