Tree Of Wolves Biography

Tree Of Wolves are a 5 piece band from Carmarthen comprising Aled Thomas, Gruffydd Wyn Owen, Mark Howells, Jack Beddis and Charli Bicknell. The bands debut single ‘Icy Water’ was recorded with John Lawrence (Gorky’s Zygotic Mynci) at his North Wales studio in the heart of Snowdonia. It was chosen as part of the Western Mail Top Welsh singles of 2013. Receiving airplay on BBC Radio 1, 6 Music, Radio Wales, Radio Cymru, Nation Radio and Amazing Radio. ‘Half Light’, their first single of 2014 prompted comparisons to bands such as The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart and fellow West Walians Cut Ribbons as well as seeing them made BBC Radio Wales Artist of the Week, playlisted on the station and receiving plays from Tom Robinson over at BBC 6 music. After a full summer of festival appearances, including Cardiff’s Hub Fest and Wrexham’s Focus Wales Festival, their second single of 2014 “Let The Night Take Me” saw the band branching out musically and showing a dreamier side that was at once delicate yet still embraced the anthemic pop song. They supported the release with a successful run of dates around the UK, including a headline slot at Oxjam Cardiff and the reopening of The Parrot in their hometown of Carmarthen, a venue close to their hearts. Tree Of Wolves ended 2014 by sharing a remix of ‘Half Light’ by up and coming Canadian producer On Planets and heading back out to the wilds of Pembrokeshire to record their debut EP with “Half Light” and “LTNTM” producer Owain Fleetwood Jenkins. Joining the producer team for this effort was Tom Sinnett of Valleyers. 2015 looks set to be a big year for Tree Of Wolves with a debut EP on the way, Louderthanwar have highlighted them as a band to look out for. "Highly promising début: a snare-driven rhythm track that crackles with energy topped by yearning vocals that carry absolute conviction" - Tom Robinson, BBC Radio 6 Music "A breath of energy and brilliantness, I’m very excited by their big blustery sounds!" - Bethan Elfyn, BBC Radio Wales "Great heart and epic qualities!" - Adam Walton, BBC Radio Wales "There’s a sense of elemental wonder about the début single by Tree of Wolves!" - The Western Mail "Epic sounding track with a pounding rhythm!" - Soundscape Magazine Buy the 'Sleepwalking' EP now from http://www.treeofwolves.bandcamp.com
