The Feather Biography
The year 2024 marked the triumphant return of The Feather, the solo project of Thomas Medard, the iconic voice of the band Dan San. In June, he unveiled a captivating cover of Missing by Everything But The Girl, a delicate teaser with summery tones. The following weeks were highlighted by the release of two original compositions: See You Again and Always You. These tracks were produced, recorded, and mixed by Chris Taylor, bassist of Grizzly Bear and collaborator with talents such as Twin Shadow, Dirty Projectors, Moses Sumney, Solange, and Aaron Parks. Taylor also lends his voice to the choruses of See You Again.
After numerous trips between Belgium and Spain, where the producer now resides, the final touches were added in Sweden and Los Angeles. The powerful and ethereal percussion of Thomas Hedlund (Phoenix, Cult of Luna) enriches See You Again, while the jazzy, organic rhythms of Kyle Crane (M. Ward, Feist, Peter Bjorn and John...) elevate Always You. These tracks were later mastered by Grammy Award-winner Joe LaPorta, renowned for his work with David Bowie, Vampire Weekend, Fleet Foxes, and Beach House.
In 2025, The Feather continues to explore its universe with the release of three new singles, unveiled at two-week intervals. Each track will be accompanied by a music video, together forming a shared narrative. The first single from this trilogy, titled All My Life, will be released this Friday, January 24. This song is a tribute to Thomas's relationship with his brother, who plays the central role in all three videos. Produced by the animation studio Camera Etc, this trio of videos will pave the way for the release of a three-track mini-EP, with the songs gradually shared in the weeks to come.
Still supported by the same team (Chris Taylor, Thomas Hedlund, and Kyle Crane), this new single by The Feather stands out with its infectious energy, lightness, and freshness. A pure indie pop track in the vein of Generationals or Gus Dapperton.
After a debut album, Invisible (2013), which took him to major international stages (from Ancienne Belgique to La Maroquinerie, and festivals like FME and FEQ in Canada), followed by ROOM (2020), a homemade opus praised by critics (Focus Vif 8/10, Le Soir, Moustique), Thomas Medard is reaching a new milestone. By embracing prestigious collaborations, he is shaping an ever more refined and ambitious brand of indie pop.
In addition to his longstanding partnership with Odessa Maison d'Artistes, this comeback also marks a new collaboration for The Feather: joining the Dutch label PolyMoon, alongside artists like Noa Lee and Rosa Butsi.
