About this concert
Singing opens doors to other cultures and languages, and it makes you feel good! The combination of world-class artists and passionate singers creates a rare and safe community for all levels of participation. Through close observation and personal experimentation you’ll learn about breathing, phrasing, dynamics, how to make your voice blend, and what makes your voice unique. The workshop is open to everyone.
Differing levels of ability are expected, and the faculty will respond to participant need accordingly. If you’re on the beginning end of the spectrum, you’ll find an ample slate of classes to address your needs; likewise, advanced singers will find plenty to challenge them. If you can’t help singing, or if you’ve always wanted to sing with others but for whatever reason you don’t, you should plan to be at this workshop.

Really enjoyed the show —although we expected performances by Dawn. Disappointed about that as we always love DP, but the group performances were wonderful & we discovered Noah Wallace —loved him!

Dawn Pemberton Biography
Dawn Pemberton’s creative voice has been an essential part of the Vancouver music scene for the better part of a decade, and she can often be found tearing it up as a vocalist, teacher, facilitator, choir director, and ‘go to girl’ for live performances and studio sessions. She’s well known as the ‘secret weapon’ of funk and soul groups all over our region.
A gifted and intuitive artist, Dawn expresses herself with a sense of adventure, quirkiness, and serious groove, all filtered and shaped through her own unique and dynamic vision. A passionate songwriter and performer, Dawn’s unmistakable voice sounds equally at home, whether she’s belting out gospel or bringing it down to deliver a soulful love ballad or a jazz standard.
Over the years, Dawn has shared the stage with the likes of Maceo Parker, The Sojourners, John Boutté and Dutch Robinson, but if you really want to experience Dawn’s magic, there’s nothing better than seeing her perform with her own band.
