About this concert
Coming soon to Nobody City, Indianapolis...
In 2023, Church of Noise is embarking on a new endeavor, with the establishment of a physical location in Indianapolis called The Sound Sanctuary. This space will be in partnership with other arts-focused businesses, to form the Nobody City community.
Nobody City is an arts community, located on the outskirts of downtown Indianapolis, comprised of the all-ages venue/art-space Healer, Joyful Noise Recordings, and others. The Sound Sanctuary is the home base of operations for Church of Noise, providing a small recording studio for live bands, and houses a one-of-a-kind lathe cutting factory for press-on-demand vinyl records. The Sanctuary will also be home to sound and video installations for the presentation of experimental music, visual art, and poetry.
In conjunction, Church of Noise will be launching a record label, in which we fully fund two full-length albums per year (for release on 12" vinyl), from diverse and adventurous artists.

Joshua Powell Biography
JOSHUA POWELL is the tender wizard at the helm of Indiana’s most haunted astral rock band. From his hardcore roots in the Floridian swamps and beyond the fever dream of his troubadour folk era, Powell’s songs have drifted through genres but maintained a crystalline vision for literarily-informed lyrics that dig for enlightenment in a surrealist muck. Comprising his band are born drummer BROTHER JACOB and virtuosic low end architect BASS MOUNTAIN.
In 2021 the band signed to Indiana label ROMANUS RECORDS and released SKELETON PARTY, building an aggressively arty bridge from their previous psych-infused folk rock into a heavier genre space. Audiotree wrote: “Four LP’s and over 900 shows later, the midwestern road dog’s ever- evolving, transcendent style embraces hallucinatory metal and grimy psychedelia.”
Joshua has had songs on ABC, Freeform, AMC, and MTV and on the Spotify playlist "The Wilds" and had music in a number of queer and horror genre pictures including “Cannibal Mukbank,” “Full Moon Glory Hole,” “Drone Shot," “Retake," and “Just Like Being There."
The band has recorded sessions with PBS, Audiotree, NPR, Daytrotter, and the Emmy-awarrd winning Music in Transit. They have played Mile of Music, Nebraska Folk and Roots Festival, Midpoint Music Fest, Holler on the Hill, Audiofeed, Harvest Gathering, and All IN and shared stages with Death Cab for Cutie, As Cities Burn, Silent Planet, The Cactus Blossoms, As Cities Burn, Dawes, White Denim, and The Forecast.
