Tony Kaye Trio Biography
The Tony Kaye Trio performs original music inspired by groove based electric guitar. The band plays a mix of Hillcountry and Chicago styled blues with rock and ballad songs. The band's 2014 release, “Boredom is the Devil’s Tool,” won Blues Recording of the Year at the 2015 Edmonton Music Awards. Guitarist and songwriter Tony Kaye plays by feel, in the moment, and brings an authenticity to the guitar that listeners connect with on a spiritual level. Tony also plays lead guitar in Chicago bluesman Nigel Mack’s Saskatchewan band, most recently in a headling performance at the 2024 Regina Winter Blues Festival. The band's drummer, Laurent Boucher, is accomplished in a broad variety of styles: from Country to Jazz, Rock, Latin, and World Percussion. He has performed with Valdy (folk), Salso Mochado (Brazillian), and Phil Dwyer (jazz), among others. On bass, Lloyd Tomczak has played the Blues throughout his musical career, performing with a long list of touring electric ‘Chicago Blues’ artists at festivals and clubs and local based players.
Tony Kaye Trio has a number of current singles, including "Higher Road", "If I came To You", and "Fuss'N'Fight". The band routinely gigs locally in Saskatoon and tours into AB and BC.
