About this concert
Heather Ferguson brings her latest album, Found, to Vancouver. Found is the newest peak in her artistic journey with original compositions, many co-written with the brilliant pianist Attila Fias, along with reimagined jazz standards in her ongoing collaboration with Dr. Tony Genge, each among Canada’s best jazz artists. Rooted in jazz but heading wherever the song takes her, Heather’s songwriting explores stories from her own experience. Her first album, Lush Life, released in 2022 to excellent reviews. Heather invites listeners to embrace the moment, to think, to have fun, and most of all experience the magic she and her collaborators have crafted. With Tony Genge, piano, Conrad Good, bass, Graham Villette drums, Lachlan Craven, trumpet and featuring Cory Weeds on saxophone.

Heather Ferguson Biography

Heather Ferguson loves defying boundaries – especially with her music. Rooted in jazz yet blossoming into a vibrant exploration of sound, subject and emotion, her voice is often compared to the soulful tones of Norah Jones and KD Lang, yet her songwriting channels the bold honesty of artists like Amy Winehouse. Heather doesn't see genres— the song will tell you what it needs.

Now she is bringing her own songs and experiences to performance and, with a single release every month, your living room. You can find her on streaming platforms including Spotify, YouTube and Apple.

Heather's upcoming album Found, set for release in 2025, is the latest peak in her artistic journey with original compositions, many co-written with the brilliant Toronto-born pianist Attila Fias, along with reimagined jazz standards and her ongoing collaboration with Dr. Tony Genge, both among Canada’s best jazz artists.

Everything is recorded with the fabulous musicians she works with regularly at Victoria's 1 Ton Studio.
Of her first album, Lush Life, Bruce Crowther of the UK Jazz Journal said, "This is a very accomplished and warmly recommended debut album by a singer whose reputation must surely spread internationally."

Said Toronto’s Sharna Searle of The Whole Note, “You can hear it in her beautiful phrasing and in her engaging, confident, generous, insightful and passionate performance.”
