About Silver Lining Tender sentiment and raw truths dance in Robin Jackson’s vulnerable, masterful songs on his new solo release Silver Lining (RELEASE DATE, Jan 31st 2025). And there’s always a twist to move listeners from dark clouds to bright breakthroughs, as Robin spins pared-down tales into lush folk pop. Robin Jackson’s Silver Lining dives headfirst into the bittersweet beauty of love, loss, and finding hope on the other side. Inspired by heartbreak, and a hero’s journey in breaking family patterns, these songs don’t dwell in the dark—they transform it, blending melancholy with a sense of gratitude and resilience. Known for his poetic storytelling and lush folk-pop sound, Robin brings a deeply personal yet universally relatable energy to every track, making this album a moving journey through heartache, healing, and growth. Drawing from a wide range of influences—including swaying Brazilian forró grooves and heartfelt Americana—Silver Lining features collaborations with some of Portland’s best, including producer Chet Lyster (Lucinda Williams, The Eels), James Villa and singer Haley Johnsen on the album’s first-ever duet. It’s the kind of album that feels like a companion for life’s harder moments, reminding us there’s always light just over the horizon. About Robin Jackson Called a “captivating song-crafter” by NPR, the Portland, OR-based singer, songwriter, and instrumentalist has a long history of using music and song to conjure other worlds and create lasting connections. Robin Jackson and the Caravan Biography

Award winning Singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Robin Jackson, known for his wild, theatrical contributions to bands like Vagabond Opera and the March Fourth Marching Band, has brought a strong presence to the world of indie folk.  Mr Jackson, often joined by his all-star six piece ensemble of NW musicians The Caravan, draws upon the moody spirit of his rain-soaked, Portland, Or. home to create an eclectic brew of dreamy folk-pop, cinematic indie rock and above all, enigmatic storytelling.

With a degree in ethnomusicology and an unflagging musical curiosity, Jackson has lived and busked around the world, from an intentional beach community in New Zealand to the streets of Europe. He is a master of a myriad of instruments, from saxophone to mbira and has also performed or recorded with notable acts such as Gregory Allen Isakov, Emancipator, Devotchka, and Amanda Palmer.  An impresario of community and collaboration, Jackson has built on his colorful, bohemian upbringing and dedicated himself to creating and supporting music around Portland, Or where he lives on an urban farm with his cat and a circus. His upcoming album, Dark Stars, was recorded in the legendary Type Foundry Studio and is due out November 3.
