Saint Sappho Biography
Saint Sappho is queer female duo (and couple) Zoe Young and Tammy Dyson. Together they write, record and self-produce all of their music, allowing them to explore unique and innovative approaches to music making.
Influenced in no small part by the full band sound of 90s era Britpop and Triphop, their contemporary reworking of classic alt-pop and rock touchstones is made even more singular due to the personal nature of their lyrics, which frequently find direct inspirations in real life scenarios.
As a duo their songwriting takes an instinctive, ‘sounds like it fits’ approach, using their collective experience in recording and mixing to structure the instrumental elements of a track.
Saint Sappho formed in 2022, a natural evolution from Zoe (who was always a musician) wanting to form a band, and Tammy’s equal enthusiasm for the project (she learned to play drums and percussion specifically for this purpose). Their output is also characterised by a notable creative vision and creative eye, with Tammy conceptualising and realising the music videos, photographic and artwork and design elements of the band.
