Trim Reaper Biography

Trim Reaper draw their power from the unfiltered charm of vintage gear and unconventional recording equipment. Hailing from Brisbane, Australia’s indie rock heartbeat, Matthew Somers (I Heart Hiroshima) and Michael Hardy (Violent Soho, Miiesha, Birds Of Tokyo…) draw inspiration from bands like Suicide, LCD Soundsystem, IDLES, and Protomartyr, fusing purpose and passion to create their heavy and heartfelt art.
The project was born from a series of 4-track cassette jams recorded in the early months of 2020. These raw sessions were later sampled, and layered to become the blueprint of their debut EP, ‘listen to Trim Reaper’.
Described as dance punk/indie electro, Somers and Hardy carve their groove with live drums, distortion, and tape machines, transforming raw energy into art that is both sincere and unpretentious.
Their music tackles themes of housing affordability, wealth division, emotional empathy, and self-worth, giving a voice to the underrepresented and pushing back against the fear, ego, and cataclysm dominating today’s headlines.
