Music with Marnie Biography

When the Music with Marnie show hits the stage, children start moving and grooving. Marnie Grey’s shows consistently sell out across the country because she is “One of the best children’s performers of her generation,” says the Vancouver International Children’s Festival. Every performance is a high-energy, up on your feet and boogying to the beat experience.

Marnie’s years of Early Childhood expertise, high energy enthusiasm and all out magnetic personality inspires children to get up on their feet. The talented four piece band pumps out an eclectic mix of tunes that are easy on everyone’s ears. The entire show packs a punch from beginning to end, each song tells a story and has an action, keeping children focused and physical.

Marnie and her team create a theatrical and magical environment where children can’t help but join in the festivities. The show is visually enhanced with continuous visits from cute and colorful puppets and props and costumed characters that captivate the children and inspire them to participate. This is modern children’s music … and more at its very finest!

The Music with Marnie Band is:

Marnie Grey on vocals
The leader of the pack. She’s a true child at heart who likes to be hands free and full of energy. Marnie captivates her audience and creates an all-out interactive presence, engaging her audience to join in the physical fun. Be prepared to jump in puddles, swing like monkeys and ‘cut a rug’; Marnie’s infectious personality will make even the most resistant follow along.

Boris Favre on keyboards
The multi-talented Bo plays many instruments for the MWM Band including piano and bass. Bo has a Bachelor's Degree in music from U.B.C. and an A.R.C.T. Diploma in Piano Performance from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. He has toured extensively throughout North America and Europe with the internationally acclaimed Celtic band 'Mad Pudding', and he continues to perform locally with various Folk-World music projects. Boris currently teaches music at the Sarah McLachlan Music Outreach (Arts Umbrella) and makes Swedish and Uilleann bagpipes.

Jon Roper on guitar
Our rocker, Jonny has been playing guitar since the age of 15 and he won't stop until he gets it right! Jon studied music composition at Simon Fraser University and Jazz Performance at VCC. He has played in various projects ranging from hard rock to African dance music. Jon has performed with many talented local jazz instrumentalists and vocalists including Alita Duprey, and Alan Matheson just to name a few.

Eduardo Ottoni on drums
The lively and smiley Eddie grew up playing music in his hometown of Montreal, Quebec, and released his first record at the age of 16. Over the years he began to compose and produce music. Marnie and Eduardo write and compose many of Marnie’s songs, and Eduardo engineered and co-produced Peace and Puddles and Groovin’ through the Neighbourhood at his studio/production Co. “Subliminal Sound.” When Eduardo is not performing with Marnie or his other band Spygirl, he is busy as production manager for the Vancouver Jazz Festival and many other festivals happening in and around beautiful Vancouver.
