Awesome show! These guys never disappoint. Only gave 4 and a 1/2 cause I think the venue didn’t really capture their full sound. I’ve seen these guys play outside venues and I think that’s when they are at their best!

Shapeshifter Biography

The five-strong lineup of PDigsss (vocals), Sam Trevethick (guitar/synths/sampler), Dan McGruer (synths/sampler), Nick Robinson (bass/synths/MPC) and Darren Mathiassen (drums) have created their very own heavy soul; a stadium-sized sound which adds layers of drum & bass, jazz, funk, rock and electronica to solid bass culture foundations.
Originally hailing from Christchurch in Aotearoa New Zealand, the future-shocked soul outfit’s music is crafted by a living, breathing band of musicians, with all the form-changing sonic possibilities live instrumentation offers.
“The essence of Shapeshifter is that on stage we create our music fully live. No click tracks, no sequencers. Just humans and instruments. Samples and drums. We communicate in a different way to the dancefloor. ” – Sam Trevethick.
Over the years the band has successfully traversed the entire spectrum of the drum and bass genre, as evidenced by collaborations with The Upbeats and Opiuo , an LP on Hospital Records, as well as remixes by artists ranging from dBridge to Netsky, Logistics to Camo & Krooked

Work on their 7th studio album was disrupted by the events of 2020, but was released in 2021 to acclaim from fans both old and new. With new singles continuing to delight fans in 2022 and 2023, the bands evolution continues. Their latest single release Block Party in 2025 on UKF is set to be a fan favourite.
