PointBreak Biography
Pointbreak is an instrumental surf rock ‘n’ roll act from Dublin. A unique project formed in late 2014, with 3 EPs released over the years, “Get Wet!”, “Sing!” and the latest “Turf Rock”. Renowned as a live band, they put on a high-energy show and have played hundreds of gigs around Ireland and abroad.
Featuring musicians from the Jazz, Funk and Rockabilly scenes, Pointbreak has been featured on Dublin stages like Whelan’s, The Grand Social, The Button Factory, Sin É, The Harbour Bar and many more as headliners or supporting international acts. They have also been invited to many festivals (Knockanstockan, Dublin Rock ’n’ Roll Festival, All Together Now), international gigs (Italy, Scotland, Northern Ireland) and significant events (Dublin Rock ’n’ Roll Marathon Main Stage, opening for The Blizzards and Jerry Fish).
They currently hold residencies in The Foggy Dew in Dublin City.
The sound of Pointbreak is a raucous blend of soaking wet, twangy Fender guitars, screaming sax and a pulsating rhythm on the drums. Think Dick Dale, The Ventures and Link Wray. As of today, Pointbreak is the only band in the country actively bringing the sound of the instrumental scene of the ‘60s on stage.
