Dave Kline Band Biography
Dave Kline delivers a veritable tsunami of world music, blending fiery rock, blues, jazz and classical themes with the ancient sounds of Africa, the Caribbean, the Middle East, and Latin America. Kline set out from his London home and spent his life traveling across the globe, collecting musical influences, finally settling in America. His virtuoso violin improvisations have accompanied musicians as diverse as Dwight Yoakum and Chick Corea. Dave Kline's three albums of original compositions are a head-on collision of timeless cultures and contemporary sound, with his most recent album climbing to the top of the US World Music chart.
Live, the Dave Kline band delivers a performance of raucous exuberance and atmospheric beauty. With his musical collaborators, an equally eclectic, international group of travelled musicians, Dave Kline has excited audiences in festivals and clubs with his border-less, impossible-to-categorize music; always joyous, always adventurous. An authentic, ageless, timeless, sound to mesmerize and excite....the Dave Kline experience.
The Dave Kline Band has performed to diverse and large audiences at Gypsy Sally’s among other notable Washington, DC area establishments. Festival appearances include the Petworth Jazz Project, Takoma Park JazzFest, and the Hyattsville Summer Concert Series. Their shows have been featured in the Washington Post, DCist, and the Brightest Young Things DC Outdoor Concert Guide 2015. In 2015, the band was featured on WMUC's "Hot Jazz" and appeared on WPFW's "Live at 5".
The Dave Kline Band has released several albums of original music with its most recent album released in 2017 called Shifting Borders reaching #1 on the Top 50 Jazz Albums.
