About this concert
Swedish folk royalty Väsen present an evening of new and traditional folk music, including a new suite by Chris Corrigan for nyckelharpa, electric viola and live electronics.
Väsen are a unique presence in folk music. After almost 40 years of performing together, Olov Johansson and Mikael Marin have perfected their craft, with telepathic interplay creating richly textured music that is at once intense and full of humour.
While firmly rooted in the traditional music of Uppland, Väsen have always looked curiously at new musical horizons. With SARC-based composer, sound engineer and fiddle player Chris Corrigan, their new suite explores sympathetic resonances between the Swedish and Irish folk traditions.
The performance will take place in the unique immersive sound environment that is SARC’s Sonic Laboratory.
