About this concert
The Album “Etudes of Shapes and Forms” (Zennez Records 2024) profiles Philipp Rüttgers latest work as a composer and performer.
He is shaping his compositions embracing the diversity of irregular rhythms, constructed polyphony and exploring space and density in his piano trio sound.
After leading diverse instrumentations throughout his 15 year career he collaborates in his first traditional piano trio setting together with the great Sun-Mi Hong and Thomas Pol.
Together they shape the compositions blending jazz, contemporary music and improvisation together to a very personal sound.

– Windout (IT)
“‘Etudes of Shapes and Forms’ is een ronduit meesterlijk album van internationale allure.” – Jazzenzo (NL) – Cyriel Pluimakers

Jan van Leersum – Rootstime (BE)
“We are impressed by the large wealth of ideas and composing style of Rüttgers, which is colorful, dynamically varied and also has an interesting rhythm.” North Sea Jazz Festival Composition Assignment
