Hi folks! It’s been nearly three years since the last album to substantially feature my songwriting ("Unamericana" by The Other Favorites); and what’s more, I’ve never put out a solo record in my 18-odd years of being a musician. It’s time for that to change! I’m excited, and a bit nervous, to announce that I’m working on an EP featuring a handful of the original tunes I’ve shared on YouTube since 2021. Inspired by “Blood on the Tracks” and “Honky Tonk Heroes”, and also seeking to keep the scope of the project manageable, I’m opting for an intimate and no-frills approach, tracking live in my home studio with Gabe Terracciano on fiddle and William Carrigan on electric bass (you might recognize them from my 2021 “Pig in a Pen” video). Working as engineer, producer, and artist should keep costs fairly low and creative control high, but even so, ensuring that my collaborators are paid fairly and that I have the tools and flexibility needed to do my best possible work represents upfront expense, so I’m hoping to make up the difference by putting on a livestream at the end of this month. Here’s the plan: The concert will be on 7/27 at 5pm ET. There will be a live comment section during the performance, and once the event ends, you’ll be able to replay a recording in perpetuity.
