“Al Hamra is a musical journey that began the moment I left Syria. The name of the album reflects a hidden transaction between two places that inspired me: Al-Hamra Street in Lebanon, which I saw – as a witness to the war – as a symbol of pluralism and diversity; and Alhambra Castle in Granada, a symbol of Arab cultural influence in Spain and Europe. This programme was born between the two Al Hamras, bringing together three musical worlds: Arabic music, flamenco and jazz.” That’s how Mohannad Nasser describes this exciting and deeply personal work.
