The Ilfords Biography

'One of the most exciting indie bands in the North East.' - The Crack Magazine

'…brutally raw. Phenomenal.' - NARC. Magazine

'A band like the Ilfords is a rare thing to come by these days.' - Varsity Newspaper

The Ilfords are a raucous hard alt/indie rock outfit out of Ilford Road, Newcastle upon Tyne. Their sound draws from a broad set of influences including punk, dance, hip hop, screamo, funk, indie, gangster rap, poetry and hardcore. Guitar bands like Queens of the Stone Age, IDLES, Arctic Monkeys, Enter Shikari, the Maccabees, Palace and Foals have all contributed to their DNA. David (frontman and actor), Jack (guitarist and DJ), Phil (bassist and parliamentary advisor) and Finlay (drummer and Cambridge PhD student) met at school and since the band’s recent rebirth the band have been rebuilding a formidable reputation for their live shows by smacking sellout crowds in the face repeatedly up and down the country. If you see one show this year, make it The Ilfords.

As heard on stations including Radio X X-Posure and X-Posure Daily with John Kennedy, Planet Rock, BBC Radio Newcastle and BBC Radio Tees (BBC Introducing Track of the Week), BBC Radio London and Amazing Radio UK and USA
