Buffalo Gals Band

Kate Lissauer, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, composer and leader in the UK’s old-time and bluegrass scene is an ambassador of the living tradition of American roots and early country music. Known primarily as Buffalo Gals band front-woman as well as a solo artist, this summer Kate brings to the stages, clubs and festivals of Britian, a new two-person show featuring one of the country’s finest and most experienced Appalachian step-dancers, Sibylle Riesen. Kate’s award-winning fiddle and banjo-playing, combined with her ‘high lonesome’ soaring vocals, are accompanied by Sibs’ thrilling, syncopated, percussive dance, hamboning and duet singing to bring a night of rousing, driving energy complemented by calm, often moving, traditional tunes and harmonies. Delivered with the easy humour, laughter, wit and audience rapport for which Kate’s shows are renowned.
