Hyber Biography
Born out of a college project, Hyber began when Kris and Eliza, the original duo, were in search of a steady backbone for their music. Enter Jeanette, a talented drummer and friend, to complete the puzzle. With the addition of Nick and Gabe, Hyber solidified their lineup with Kris Musto (vocals, guitar), Jeanette Abbene (drums), Nick Arathuzik (guitar), and Gabriel Santos (bass).
Hyber’s sound is a tapestry woven with threads of alternative rock, indie, power pop, and emo. Their music echoes the influences of genre-defining artists like The Beths, Boygenius, Movements, Death Cab for Cutie, Paramore, Microwave, and The Cranberries. Hyber’s music is both nostalgic and fresh; each song takes listeners on an emotional journey.
You’ll often find Hyber on stages in the Greater Boston/Salem area, where they’ve headlined shows and supported touring acts including Emily Wolfe. Their lyrics resonate deeply, touching on heartache, the weight of mental health struggles, and the euphoria of self-discovery.
Hyber’s latest single, “Manic,” released in May 2024, is an anthem articulating the bittersweet feeling of moving forward. Manic provides a glimpse into their upcoming EP “All The Things It Hurt To Know”, a follow-up to their debut EP “sleEP” from 2019.
In 2020, Hyber’s unique sound earned them a nomination for a Boston Music Award, cementing their place in the local music scene and hinting at the waves they are destined to make in the wider world of music.
