WCT Inaugurates Stand-Up Comedy Nights on Saturday, June 1
Ossining, NY – On Saturday, June 1, Westchester Collaborative Theater (WCT) will present its first Stand-Up Comedy Night, featuring three NYC-based standup comedians known nationwide through their many TV and film appearances.
Headlining an outstanding evening will be veteran comic Leighann Lord who has been seen on HBO, Comedy Central, The View, and Showtime. She was named one of the 35 Most Hilarious Comedians of Diversity, was a national finalist in the American Black Film Festival-HBO Comedy Wings Competition and received the NYC Comedy Award for the Most Thought-Provoking Black Female Comic.
Jim Mendrinos, the featured artist, has performed on Comedy Central, HBO and the BBC and currently has an hour-long special, Not Dead Yet, airing on Amazon Video Direct. Chris Rock said of a Mendrinos program, “Living in Exile just might be the best funniest show I've ever seen." The host for the evening will be JohnG, who plays Gail's Dad in Gail’s New Boyfriend on Amazon Prime and was Santa in Melissa McCarthy’s film, Genie.
The cabaret-style performance begins at 8:00 pm at WCT’s black box performance space, 23 Water Street in Ossining. The house will open at 7:30pm. Tickets are $30; cash bar and refreshments will be available. Purchase tickets online at:

The entire show was well worth an hour's ride in the blinding rain from my house. Specific to Leighann Lord, she is a superstar. She is hilarious and witty, with a perfect delivery every time. I personally think it takes huge talent to have the audience doubling over without ever uttering one F bomb. Don't get me wrong. I'm no prude, but I do marvel at her elevated talent.

Leighann Lord is a seasoned, NYC-based standup comedian who has been seen on Comedy Central, HBO, The View, and in the Netflix Def Comedy Jam 25th Anniversary Special. She’s performed for the troops in the Middle East, was named one of the 35 Most Hilarious Comedians of Diversity, was a national finalist in the American Black Film Festival-HBO Comedy Wings Competition, and received the American Humanist Association’s Humanist Arts Award. Leighann can be seen in Showtime’s Even More Funny Women of a Certain Age and her Dry Bar Comedy special, I Mean Business, has had over one million views.
Leighann is the author of several humor books including Dict Jokes: Alternate Definitions for Words You’ve Probably Never Heard of But Will Definitely Never Forget and Real Women Do It Standing Up: Stories from the Career of a Very Funny Lady available on Amazon.
She is a former co-host of the Emmy-nominated StarTalk with Neil de Grasse Tyson.
