Celloman presents his solo cello show: Cello Moods & Broods.
The album: Cello Moods & Broods, released in December 2023, contains a collection of beautifully melodic original compositions for Cello duo, trio and quartet and is:
“…a fine reminder of the emotional power of the cello” - All About Jazz
This Entertaining and informative solo cello show is split into two halves.
The first half discusses, through played examples, the changing role of the cello in history from bass instrument to melodic instrument.
The cello is then introduced as a harmonic instrument, much like the guitar, through a new style of cello playing called Arpezzato, a combination of the words ‘Arpeggio’ and ‘Pizzicato’.
Playing examples taken from his solo cello album: Arpezzato Cello, Ivan uses finger techniques imported from the world of Pop/Rock, Blues and Jazz including: ‘hammer-on’, ‘hammer-off’, ‘slide’, ‘pop’, ‘slap’, ‘strum’ and ‘Walking bass’.
The second half builds on those same compositions through the addition of bowed melody and harmony as Ivan performs pieces from Cello Moods & Broods together with virtual versions of himself.

Celloman Biography
Celloman has been active for over twenty years under various guises including an electric band, acoustic string trio, and solo cello.
Having released eight albums and performed extensively across the UK and abroad including at major festivals such as Glastonbury, Womad, Sauti za Busara (Zanzibar) and Exit Festival in Serbia, Celloman are back with a UK tour to promote the release of ‘Panacea', the first full band studio album since the 2009 release of Sharptown.
The electric band, led by the electric cello over drums, bass, percussion and sampled beats, has a big reputation and sound. A sound that is a unique fusion of world music, jazz and classical mixed with African and Middle-Eastern rhythms. In addition, Panacea adds a Classical Baroque flavour to the mix with use of a cello quintet throughout the album.
In the Winter of 2022, Celloman hosted in a 12-date tour to promote the newest album, Pancea and was joined by Pablo Hussey as support.
‘A Beautifully-constructed meeting of sweeping classical strokes, ethnic percussion, artful samples and an ear for grown up ‘pop’ music’ – Making Music
‘The band were tight, and the playing superb. To die for!’ - Festivals UK
“Their combined rhythmic impetus was strong enough for any dance audience. Very impressive” – The Evening Standard
