About this concert
Talulah Ruby has landed on a modular room – and so brings to it a complete performance of compositions that bridge the gap between the listener and the musicians by diving into her debut EP and concept Hyperdrive, then further exploring the capacities within the room, the hard drive worth of unreleased material, the tender nods to influences and musicians who’ve shaped the approach she has to her vocal serenades and musicianship as a whole. Known for her full spectrum interest in sound and the effect it has on an ecosystem, this evening becomes the truest form to know how the branches affect the tree, to know how Talulah Ruby can affect a room into stillness by embodying an intention set collectively. The Canary Island born artist is finally opening the door to her live show capacities for an intimate public. In this case, the state of the art room affects the state of art and becomes a rare moment shared between both artist(s) & listener(s). A space for both reconnection and new connections.

Talulah Ruby Biography

Born and raised in the Lava fields of Lanzarote, currently based in London. Talulah Ruby is a vocalist & writer who works with production and composition as a tool to explore different depths of sound and emotion. Focusing on releasing recorded music, developing expansive live shows and creating specialised pieces for film/collaborative projects. Talulah was raised on an eclectic mix of sounds from Trip hop & Radiohead, to Fela Kuti & Batucada music from South America. Vocally, it was traditional soul that informed her tone, singers like Etta James and Aretha Franklin were a constant. She adopted a jazz sentiment from a young age, blending influences from Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday with instrumental artists such as Dave Brubeck & John Coltrane. Having developed an appreciation for the freedom in electronic music & the vulnerability of folk writing in her teens, Talulah begins to translate her multitude of influence into her confidence as a songwriter and vocalist. Her formative years as an artist were informed by her surroundings living in the UK. Writing and sharing the stage with what could easily be London’s most prolific instrumentalists. Her movements in the city have been natural and consistent.Talulah writes from a place of honesty and produces with a sense of gravity. She invokes a feeling of peace while provoking her audience to deepen their introspection. Talulah holds you captive not to stop you, but to start you.
