About this concert
Powder Chutes have finished recording their debut album, and whilst this is being mixed and mastered, they embark on a four date mini-tour of the bottom of the South Island to celebrate, and road test the new tunes live… Boom!
The gigs, (well, 3 of them), land during NZ Music Month, and they’re stoked that they'll be playing with IVY, Mads Harrop, Superficial, Saint Peter’s Thursday, Rammshakyll and The Fatty Burnaties (formerly The Nookies)… a true mini-showcase of some epic south island kiwi bands.
The mini-tour wraps up at the Boiler House in Timaru where along for the ride are pop punk snarlers The Fatty Burnaties (formerly The Nookies), and new cock rock kids on the block Rammshakyll.
This will be Powder Chutes’ first headline gig in Timaru.
Other Dates:
The Crown Hotel, Ōtepoti / Dunedin - 23rd May with IVY & Mads Harrop
Rhyme & Reason Brewery, Wānaka – 24th May with IVY & Superficial

Powder Chutes Biography
Powder Chutes are a rock band from New Zealand, producing fiercely original music described by NZ Musician Magazine as having ”a modern grunge feel, mixed with punk angst and hard rock’ .
Compared to everyone from Tool, to Highly Suspect, they're made up of Archie (drums), Clarke (guitar), Henry (vocals), & Otis (bass), and are described by Radio One 91FM as “already punching well above their weight in the Aotearoa music scene… with chunky riffs, and BIG fills, they have every head turning”.
In addition to their headline shows, Powder Chutes opened for The Feelers, Dolphin Friendly, Big Sima, East York, Pull Down The Sun, Pieces Of Molly, and The Jordan Luck Band. They also opened for ZZ Top, Pat Benatar, Stone Temple Pilots and The Angels in front of 18,000.
Their single ‘Moths To The Flame’ achieved major radio airplay, entering at #9 on the Official NZ Hot 20 NZ Singles Charts, and was voted onto the 2023 Rock FM 2000 at #1730. Between May 26th and July 28th, 2023 it was in the 40 most played rock songs on New Zealand radio for 8 out of 10 weeks.
Powder Chutes were recently chosen by Alien Weaponry as the winners of the inaugural AJ Hackett Bungy New Zealand 'Thrash More’ competition.
The boys are currently finishing their debut album.
Sweet noise pollution... groove-fueled grunge... Powder Chutes are electrifying, ambitious, and ready to make their mark as an original rock band worthy of attention.
