Join us for this very special ongoing musical series once a month! $15 Advance (reserved seating) $20 Door This event is sponsored by: Longmont Creates https://www.downtownlongmont.com/creativ.../longmont-creates Longmont Creates is the non-profit arm of the Longmont Creative District. They support activities in the Longmont Creative District and the creatives throughout Longmont. Mixtape was the first recipient of their new Pop-Up Grant and we are so thankful! The Artists: Gabrielle Louise https://gabriellelouise.com/ Gabrielle Louise writes original Americana that, though rooted in folk tradition, blends a sophisticated use of musical harmony with a lyrical love for philosophy, history, and storytelling. Her voice is agile as birdsong in one moment and bold as a coal train whistle in another. Known for her authenticity and candor on stage, her performances delight with whimsical banter and enchant with dynamic musicality. After graduating Berklee College of Music in 2007, she crossed the country many times over in a veggie oil powered tour van, released nine records of original work, and has been entrusted to open for greats from Joan Osborn to the late Guy Clark. Career highlights include giving an original TEDx talk on storytelling, taking first place in the Songwriter Serenade Competition, and watching her record "If the Static Clears" climb to #6 on the National Roots Music Report for Contemporary Folk Album. Andrew Sturtz https://sturtzmusic.com/ The acoustic quartet – Andrew Sturtz [vocals, guitar], Jim Herlihy [banjo], Courtlyn Carpenter [cello, and Will Kuepper [bass]– falls somewhere at the intersection of folk and soul, with lead singer Andrew Sturtz’s melodic vocals soaring over the lower string instrumentals. Sturtz is based in Boulder, CO, and has toured across the United States. NPR’s All Songs Considered described the band as “a reassuring breath of fresh air that pulls me back to simpler times” in their April 2020 blog. Sturtz released their debut album You’ve Done this Before in August 2021, and now they are hard at work touring on this album and writing songs for their next album. Hosted by: Monica Marie LaBonte https://monicamariemusic.com/ From a wide-eyed tike delicately pressing the keys of her mother’s upright piano to a seasoned artist taking various stages across the country, Monica Marie LaBonte has always been guided by song. In her over 10-year career, the Colorado native has played hundreds of venues, including the historic Gold Hill Inn and Planet Bluegrass. For five years, she carried the torch of Women in Song at the Laughing Goat and enjoyed booking, playing alongside and meeting artists from all over the country. Monica is thrilled to be the Creative Director and host of Mixtape. She believes in the power of community and music and cannot wait to see what magic happens when musicians share stories and songs on stage together at the Times Collaborative.
