Glen Phillips

This truly was a remarkable night of music with Glen Phillips, who performed along with Shawn Mullins & a special appearance by Amber Rubarth. All are exceptionally gifted songwriters, skilled musicians & compassionate individuals, whose diverse song collections & vivid storytelling made for a very entertaining & engaging concert. This was my first visit to Levon Helm Studios & I was genuinely so impressed with this unique & intimate venue & its courteous & stellar staff. It was the ideal setting & provided the perfect backdrop to complement the songs & stories of the evening. Thank you Glen, Shawn & Amber for a most memorable & enjoyable show & for sharing your tunes & talents with us.

Glen’s shows are always a thought provoking spiritual uplift!!! Jonathan Kingham is also beyond incredible especially his ability to change and improv lyrics in his songs while performing without really any forethought. Thanks for a great show!!!

There was such a positive energy at this concert & everything about the show was absolutely perfect! Glen & Jonathan are immensely talented musicians & captivating performers & their sets covered an impressive collection of classic songs & newer tunes. They are consummate professionals who always deliver in their performance while engaging the audience with their humorous banter. And they are gracious in sharing their time to speak with fans after the show. The venue at the Yellow Cab Tavern was intimate & the staff courteous & accommodating. This truly was a very special evening - thank you Glen & Jonathan for a most memorable time!

Great show, really great to see Glen and Johnathon do such a stripped back show. Two guys, two guitars, one keyboard. Sounded great and in such a small venue, a real opportunity to interact with the crowd.

There's so many positives to seeing Glen Phillips live, that it's difficult to name them all. Let's start with the venue, The Ark in Ann Arbor... one of the most INCREDIBLE venues to see singer / songwriters play. Small, intimate, yet comfortable venue, run and maintained by donations and volunteers. Truly a gem of a venue to see your favorite artists! Secondly, Glen has an on-stage presence that is so affable, adorkable, and academically entertaining, that even if he never played a note, you'd feel as if your money was well spent. Then there's the Toad / Glen fans. For most artists, I would say the fan base is a strange mix of sweet and scary, but in the 35+ years I've been following Glen and Toad, I have met some of the most incredible, empathetic, and all around wonderful human beings at the shows. The fans feed off the music and mythos of Glen and his message of compassion and stewardship is clearly shared among his fans and followers. Oh yeah, and the music was great, too.

Glen always puts on a great show. Nice mix of new and old songs and a couple choice covers. Garrison Starr was very entertaining as the opener and I enjoyed Glen & Garrison performing the last 3 songs together. Cool venue and a very enthusiastic and appreciative audience. Both were very enchanting to talk to after the show.

Fantastic concert. Phillips was very engaging, keeping the crowd entertained with classic Toad the Wet Sprocket songs and his new solo material. In between songs he told stories about his life and the creative process he used to write his songs.

Glenn was as spectacular as ever. Appreciate his song writing, guitar playing and performing talents! Such a humble man for the depth of his gifts as an artist! Thank you for making the evening so so memorable!

Brilliant. Simply brilliant. & nothing simple about it. 🤩 If someone in the audience shouted out a song, Glen would start right up & though he may have said “this one be may need some practice”, it would be amazing. Old songs, new album, some Toad sing a longs, and witty commentary, he could play all night and still be as interesting as the 1st few minutes. Does he have a podcast? He should. I could listen for weeks. He is kind, modest, funny. And as his friend Garrison mentioned, too smart for the majority of us, understandable every 18th word. Keep it going, Glen. You have amazing talent.

Freaking unbelievable! Been listing to his music since the 90s and had the opportunity to see him perform live. What an honor. Completely loved it. And he’s so nice, I got the amazing opportunity to chat with him and take a pic.

Glen Phillips never disappoints. It was awesome to see him in concert again. He interacts very well with the crowd and has a great sense of humor. He sounds just as good live as he does on recorded work. An amazing voice and performer. I will definitely be attending more Glen Phillips shows.

Glen was AMAZING!! He is sooooo talented. His music seriously “moves” me. So happy I got to see him live. He’s funny too. & smart. I enjoyed his stories as well as his singing & playing guitar. I hope he comes back to the Bay Area real soon. Also happy he signed my cd and took the time to pose for a picture with us. It really meant a lot to me. Szold Hall is a great venue to see a show like this. Sound was fantastic. Small venue so you could hear a pin drop during the quieter moments. Very intimate setting. Glen Phillips writes great songs and has a fantastic voice. He had some audience participation which was fun and made you feel a part of the experience. The volunteer staff was very friendly. I really enjoyed it and will see more shows there.

A wonderful mix of old and new tunes, from a master singer-songwriter, whose passion, humor, and humility shine through in this intimate, solo acoustic setting...

The performance was amazing but the venue was a disappointment. Having to sit in the coffee shop portion with bright lights and the sound of the espresso machine going throughout a good portion of the show was not what we expected

Glen gives a great live performance! Jonathan Kingham and Ryan Shea were great too! They were all especially kind to a young girl in the audience, dedicating a song to her that included an amazing freestyle portion. Glen gave her their set list. The music was great. These guys are funny and really nice. Their interaction with the audience was awesome and they are really patient, down to earth, and humble when interacting with fans. Glen's shows have a personal quality with obvious professional talent. It was definitely a very enjoyable experience! I highly recommend seeing Glen Phillips as well as Jonathan Kingham and Ryan Shea!

He outdid himself! We are longtime Glen Phillips fans; we love his music, and we thoroughly enjoyed the concert. The fact that it was free was just the icing on the cake...

Cafe 11 is such a wonderful beach cafe for a gig. Good beer selection. Great food. Glen, as always, personable. His story telling has never been better, and his new material may be his best. Highlight of the new material was "The Easy Ones". Nice getting an opportunity to chat with Glen after the show.

Glen was simply amazing. Heartfelt, vulnerable, funny, energetic and talented. His mastery of the guitar is fun to watch, his ability to own the room and command attention is incredible. In all, one of my favorite nights of live music ever.

The show was one of the best up close personal shows I have ever seen. Warm friendly funny and both Glen and Jonathan Kingham were completely into the music and the audience. Glen played Rise Up a WPA song that was better than any recorded. Jonathan played Grace and Glen backed vocals up and as always their performance was superb. Till the next time guys!!!Bradley Brumit
