Am Mittwoch vor den Schulferien treffen sich im Yard, sprich Hinterhof, des Gretchens zwei befreundete Bands, um mit einem Doppelkonzert einiges zu feiern. Die aus Luckenwalde stammende Jazz Saxophonistin und Songwriterin MIEKE MIAMI wird mit Ensemble erste Lieder ihres upcoming Albums vorstellen, von dem die erste Single "Whispering Pines" am 26 April auf Sonar Kollektiv erscheint. Das neue Album, wie die erste Single bestens vorstellt, ist eine viel nähere Mischung ihrer beiden musikalischen Wege: Jazz und klassisches Songwriting. Auf dem kommenden Album kommt nun beides zusammen, in einem mid/late 70ies Feeling: pur, handgespielt, warm, soulig, nachdenklich, poetisch, schön, etwas verspult. Genau richtig für den Hinterhof des Gretchens, zwischen Mehringdamm und Viktoriapark. Und auch genau richtig für die Record Release Show des Berliner Post-Kraut Trios YELKA, welches am gleichen Abend ihr kurz zuvor erscheinendes Album "For" (Karaoke Kalk) vorstellen wird. Beide Bands kennen und schätzen sich sehr und versprechen einen prima Abend mit Sommerabend- OpenAir und vielem Lächeln - passend zur angekündigten YELKA Single (Juni): "Smile into Skies".

Mieke Miami Biography
Mieke Miami is a multi-instrumentalist, vocalist and producer originally from Hamburg, but now living in the working class, so- called “artistic” enclave of Luckenwalde, in the federal state of Brandenburg to the south-west of Berlin. Her musical origins lie with the jazz saxophone, which she studied in Berlin before starting her
song-writing journey in 2014.
Mieke released her folk-influenced first album, In The Old Forest, on Sonar Kollektiv in 2015, and having moved to Brandenburg in 2019 to bring up her family, she then released her darker second LP. Montecarlo Magic saw her work closely with sound wizard and producer Benjamin Spitzmüller, who among other things, has shaped the sound of highly regarded Berlin based tropical imprint Philophon Records. It’s a relationship that has deepened ever since and leaves
its mark on Mieke’s music to this day.
In 2024 she returns to Sonar Kollektiv with her third album, Birdland, which develops her unique fusion of psychedelic jazz and leftfield electronics with Mieke performing vocals, bass clarinet, flute, sax, keys, programming, as well as co-producing and writing all of the original music. It’s an album that in many ways represents a solo
vision, but is also created with a full live band performance in mind.
