About this concert
Walking home from a short trip around my neighborhood, I noticed the church message board: Mothering God, Thank you for life. I loved that...designating the quality of mothering to the Divine-which-is-all-things. My mother was fierce and strict, holding our wildness in check, teaching us discipline, making sure we had piano lessons (thank you, Mom), making sure we brushed our teeth, helped out around the place with assigned chores...all that and more. There was no doubt that I was mothered. As a result, I, too, am able to mother the Other...to move beyond myself in order to care for another. I stopped my walk to talk with the 5-year-olds in the preschool. We talked about so many things: fire, and electricity, and music, and how things all had to be invented along the way. I waved farewell and headed for home. I felt I had let the mothering god come through me, and it came back through the open minds of the children. Join us this Sunday for The Mothers' Way...love through songs, full and fierce and free. 3pmPT/6pmET over on my Facebook Music Page. facebook.com/criswilliamsonmusic

Cris Williamson Biography
Decades before indie labels were the norm, and years before women had any real access to the industry, Cris Williamson was busy changing the face of popular music. In 1975, the twenty-something former schoolteacher recorded The Changer And The Changed, for her brainchild, Olivia Records. the first woman-owned woman-focused record company. Her music and voice quickly became the soundtrack of a movement, and was the cornerstone of what would become known as "women's music," music created, performed, and marketed specifically to women. Today, that recording, The Changer and the Changed, remains one of the best-selling independent releases of all time.
