Lauren Frihauf Biography
"Her range is just incredible. The song, the way it's layered and the progression of it; it's just really, really; -it just gives me chills. She's so talented."
-Bobby Carter, NPR Music Tiny Desk Producer, Contest Judge, 'Top Shelf', Episode 1, 2022
"Though young, she has dedicated her time cultivating her brilliant talent and it shows. Her music is both unconventional and accessible, a direct line to the soul as it reflects her genuine nature"
-Abi Clark, Host, "Influenced", KUVO JAZZ 89.3FM
Lauren Frihauf made an impression on Teams Gwen and Legend on S19 of NBC's "The Voice," and NPR Music's Tiny Desk ‘Top Shelf’ in 2022, when she stunned Bobby Carter, Senior Producer for the contest, with her submission.
When her neo-soul duo ended in 2021, before, "The Latona EP", was released, Frihauf began her quest to identify herself as a solo artist. As her focus shifted from keys to guitar, learning to play, "Cactus Tree", by Joni Mitchell proved pivotal: the young artist became obsessed with open D tuning. "Fragments of a Stranger", was the first song she wrote on guitar. "I don't think it took me even an hour to write. The song was all there and ready to be made."
Now referring to herself as a Neo-Folker, Frihauf performs at a high level of artistry and musicianship. Frequently compared with Joni Mitchell, her lyrics and melodies resonate deeply with audiences, and her solo performances have been known to move listeners to tears.
"Fragments of a Stranger", marked the beginning of an outpouring of unique lyrics and melodies, which provided catharsis for the struggling young artist. She is currently releasing singles for her eight-song debut solo album, "Shadows in the Soul Machine", which will follow early in August. With her magnetic talent, authentic artistry, and promising future, Lauren is undoubtedly an artist to watch as she continues to make waves in the music industry.
