The Iceman Special Biography
Materializing as if from the depths of a Louisiana swamp, The Iceman Special is a living, breathing ghost story. When this music hits the airwaves, you might not know what to do right away, but you’ll soon figure it out soon enough.
Creating a spectacle in dayglo camouflage jumpsuits, The Iceman Special explore haunting indie rock with a funky punk edge. Fitting of a Meow Wolf house band or a David Lynch-directed fever dream, this is cut from the cloth of futuristic psychedelia. Unabashedly original and thought-provoking, there’s good reason why The Iceman Special have been generating mad buzz around the country.
Dual guitars soar into a serpentine Flight of the Valkyries while hypnotic, low end thunder trolls through the ominous soundscape. Electronic synth samples, driving drum beats and powerful vocals provide elements of primal heat as if driven straight up from the earth’s core. The lead guitar of Steve Staples slices through the mix like warm butter while his cartoonish super villain persona adds boundless intrigue. Coming off a performance on the prestigious Main Stage at New Orleans’ Jazz Fest, this quartet is only getting more ferocious by the moment.
