What: San Francisco Bay Cruise aboard the USS Potomac Join us for a great afternoon of Music on the Potomac featuring live performances by some favorite Bay Area bands and ensembles. On June 2nd, we'll host Steve Lucky and the Rhumba Bums featuring Miss Carmen Getit. Jumpin', jivin', swingin', extraordinary musicianship and a whole lotta fun! Sorry, we do not validate. Access The Presidential Yacht Potomac is a historically preserved vessel. As such, it does not fully comply with the facility access standards of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The ship allows limited access for the mobility impaired. Wheelchair access is limited to the main deck only, but NOT the restrooms on board the ship. The maximum wheelchair width (outside of wheel to outside of wheel) is 25 inches. Potomac docents and crew are not allowed to provide physical assistance to mobility-impaired individuals. The ship leaves promptly on cruises at the designated time. Passenger check-in is 45 min prior to scheduled departure time. Minors must be accompanied by an adult. This is a historical vessel and not ADA compliant. Mobility on the moving ship may be restricted. Flat shoes are required as this is a moving ship with high step-over thresholds, uneven surfaces and steep stairs to explore the ship. The Floating White House was originally commissioned as the USCG Cutter Electra in 1934. In 1936, it was renamed the USS Potomac and served as Franklin Delano Roosevelt's Presidential Yacht until his death in 1945. Sunday, July 28- Hey Jude - You're in for a Beatles tribute! Sunday, Aug. 25 - Band to be announced. DIRECTIONS: From San Francisco Take the Bay Bridge to the East Bay and exit on 880 South toward San Jose. Exit on the Broadway/Alameda off ramp. At the end of the exit ramp, turn right onto 5th St. Proceed on 5th to Washington (about eight blocks), turn right on Washington St. For parking: take Washington to 2nd St and enter the Jack London Square Parking Garage just past 2nd. Once parked, exit the garage and proceed toward the estuary across Embarcadero (across the railroad tracks) to Water St. Turn right. The USS Potomac Visitor Center is one block on your right at 540 Water St. From the South Bay Take 880 North to the Broadway exit in Oakland. At the bottom of the exit, turn left on Broadway. Proceed to 2nd St and turn right, go one block to Washington St and follow directions above. From Walnut Creek & Lamorinda Take 24 West to the Oakland exit to 980. Take 980 to the 12th St exit. Continue straight through the light on Brush St, follow Brush to 5th St and turn left. Follow the above directions to Washington. From Marin Take the Richmond/San Rafael Bridge to 580. Take 580 East to 80 West to 880 South. Follow the above directions from 880 to the USS Potomac. For Passenger Drop Off Continue down Washington to Embarcadero and turn right. Take the next left onto Clay St. The USS Potomac is moored at the foot of Clay St. This area may be used for passenger drop off. Passenger vehicles are encouraged to use the Jack London Square Garage on Washington St. Buses must find parking on one of the side streets nearby. Public Transportation AC Transit (510) 817-1717 The bus system in the East Bay is excellent and connections from the BART stations at West Oakland and 12th St City Center will easily take you to Jack London Square. BART (510) 464-6000 Trains from all East Bay directions stop at the West Oakland Station. This station is 12 blocks from Jack London Square and the USS Potomac. Taxis and bus transportation are readily available. Trains also stop at the 12th St City Center station, and that is an easy ten-block walk to Jack London Square. Buses are also frequent from this station. Amtrak (800) 872-7245 The Jack London Square/Oakland station from Amtrak is a short five-block walk to the USS Potomac. The Ferry (510) 522-3300 The Alameda Oakland Ferry from San Francisco docks right next to the USS Potomac at the foot of Clay St. The Ferry runs on a regular and convenient schedule.
