Outstanding US guitarist B.D. Lenz returns to the UK for a Summer Tour with his phenomenal trio featuring James Rosocha on bass and Joe Falcey on drums. The trio will perform at Smokey Joe's with special guest, saxophonist and vocalist Kim Cypher. This is sure to be a very special night full of energetic jazz, blues and funky grooves blended with B.D's rock influence, all in the unique surroundings of Smokey Joe’s.
B.D. Lenz is a prolific recording artist with 13 highly acclaimed albums under his belt featuring incredible original pieces recorded with an array of top musicians. His style of playing was celebrated by New York Times where it stated: "Part of the reason for his accessibility is that he not only fuses jazz and rock, he complements it with warm chords of funk, soul, and rhythm and blues."
Cheltenham’s own Kim Cypher is one of the UK's most exuberant and vivacious saxophonists, vocalists and composers. A regular on the London jazz circuit and at world renowned Ronnie Scott’s jazz club, with 2 highly acclaimed albums including Top 10 rated album ‘Love Kim x’ under her belt, Kim has firmly secured her position on the UK jazz scene as one of the UK’s most exciting and popular saxophonists, vocalists and composers.

Kim Cypher is creating quite a stir on the jazz scene at present. As one of the UK’s most exciting saxophonists, vocalists, composers, band leaders and radio hosts with Top-10 rated albums and award-winning music videos, Kim has firmly secured a reputation for delivering the highest quality performance with incredible style, passion, energy, and charisma together with her renowned vivacious stage presence and warm connection with all audiences.
A regular performer on the London and UK jazz circuit, having sold out the main stage at world-renowned Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club and performed in New York, Kim’s experience, all-round skills and natural ability to win the hearts of all audiences offer a unique ‘full package’ for the very best in jazz performance.
Inspired by the funkier side of jazz and having studied alongside US saxophonist Pee Wee Ellis and internationally acclaimed jazz saxophonist Andy Sheppard, Kim’s style of performance is best described as ‘funky saxophonist meets 1940’s jazz singer’.
Kim has performed and recorded with some of the country’s finest jazz musicians and is due to release her hugely anticipated 3rd album in 2024 as part of her inspired ‘Brighter Tomorrow’ project paying tribute to all who work in The Arts. The album features original music recorded with some wonderful jazz performers including Liane Carroll, Ray Gelato, Antonio Forcione, Ashley Slater together with an ALL-STAR band.
