The Non-Renewed

Not dissimilar to a modern love story, (platonic) queer indie-rock duo, The Non-Renewed was born on the apps and nurtured through the early pandemic days. After a heartbreak, a lost job and a shutdown, Meghan Mallon and Mellik Gorton, both singer-songwriters in their own right, found solace in each other. The duo featured by indie 102.3 and Die Indie, have spent the last three years fine-tuning the songs of their debut self-titled album planned to release in 2024, made in part possible by the Denver EDI Arts & Culture fund.

Both Gorton and Mallon were born and raised on the east coast, but met in Denver, where they both reside. As two distinct songwriters, they are a multi-genre band. While sitting comfortably in the alternative/indie rock realm, their tunes spread across folk rock to soul pop. Mallon pulls from artists like Haim, Brandi Carlile and Avril Lavigne. While Gorton leans into the folk rock world of Andy Shauf, Pinegrove and boygenius. While the duo are quite different from one another in personality and music style, their magic comes from where they intersect; their warm raspy harmonies and playful guitar forward melodies.
