Camo Kimono Biography
Camo Kimono (Formerly known as WCS) was formed in 2019 in Mississauga, Ontario. Its current lineup includes Matthew Tyler Di Leo on Vocals, Paul J Doron on Guitar, Dylan Beneteau on Drums, and Michael Baranov on Bass. Camo Kimono gets their name from a Boy George concert that happened at Budweiser Stage on August 1, 2023.
Lead singer Matthew Tyler Di Leo was looking for a name that merged the band's elegant alternative rock with aggressive punk rock riffs when he spotted a young woman in the crowd. Her bright neon coat looked like a camouflage kimono and the band name stuck.
In 2019 Camo Kimono released their debut single "Show Me the Light". Which made waves in the Toronto music scene after being promoted by 102.1 The Edge. As they began filming the subsequent music video, Toronto shut down due to the Covid 19 pandemic. During this time, Camo Kimono released singles "Tears in the Rain" and "Melancholy" before launching their debut EP "World on Fire" in April 2023.
Combining elements of Punk Rock, J-Rock, Alternative Rock, and Britpop, Camo Kimono is the best band you’ve never heard of.
