Francesca LaRosa Biography
My name is Francesca LaRosa, and I’m a Catholic composer and singer-songwriter from Indianapolis. I began playing music at weekly Masses with my family when I was 9 years old, and have continued ever since. I graduated from Ball State University with a music education degree, after which I was the music director at my home parish for 4 years. It was as a music director that I started writing the Psalms and my Mass setting to be used at my parish.
While I loved being a music director, I felt God calling me to pursue writing music more directly. After a lot of prayer and discernment, I left the job I loved to begin writing and self-publishing my Psalms, Mass Setting, and other pieces I composed. I began writing Psalms every week and filming them to make sheet music videos to aid cantors in learning the music.
It is my mission to help others grow in their faith by memorizing the sacred Word of God, as well as prayers and hymns, through music. Together with my husband David, I continue to compose USCCB and ICEL approved Psalms in multiple styles and languages every week, as well as create the best resources possible for music directors and cantors.
