Dandelion Head Biography
Following the release of his debut album YAY BLYNN, which Apple Music described as “a haunting debut that recalls the lo-fi folk of early Iron & Wine and the ghostly mystique of Bon Iver”, Dandelion Head returns with a second album, Blue Dream, recorded in a small mud brick studio on a hillside of eucalyptus trees in Melbourne, Aus during the pandemic.
Recorded and produced alone during an intense 4 month lockdown of Melbourne, Blue Dream is a groovy, psychedelic, intimate chronicle of a person in flux, finding his way through the change brought on by the birth of his child and by a world turning more chaotic by the day.
The songs deal with vulnerability, the search for connection, the hypocrisy of politicians and shapeshifters, and the strength of love in a hectic time. Sonically this record represents an expansion, a deeper and more fully realized version of J’s expression as a solo artist. The grooves are hypnotic and deep, the sounds warm and lush, and evoke the mellow, groovy feelings of artists such as CSNY, Fleetwood Mac, Weyes Blood and Kurt Vile.
J. Blynn (Dandelion Head) has toured internationally with other artists such as Lucius, Richard Marx and Sui Zhen. Songwriting and production credits also include: Co-writing the second single from Sara Bareilles’s grammy nominated album The Blessed Unrest, Courtney Marie Andrews, Elliphant, Jade Bird, Rose Elinor Dougall (The Pipettes), Matt Simons, Set Mo, Jenny O, Roofeeeo (TV on the Radio, Buddy), Pelle (The Hives), Emma Louise, Sui Zhen, Say Lou Lou, Sammy Brue, and Rogue Wave.
