Songwriters at Play returns to Atascadero with its second showcase at The Ancient Owl. Singer-songwriters Holly Ann Lewis, Ted Nunes, and Steve Key will share the stage from 5-8pm. They'll swap songs and stories in-the-round, Nashville-style. It's a free show! All ages OK. Ted Nunes is an Americana songwriter rooted in Central California's San Joaquin Valley. Ted's songs are written in the midst of urban sprawl over a farming community. His original style blends influences of Oklahoma and Texas troubadours, Southern California's Laurel Canyon sound, and San Francisco's folk scene. He plays frequently on the Central Coast, and was in the Songwriters at Play song contest Finale this year at the Cambria Center for the Arts Theatre. She now resides in the high desert town of California, and commuting to her day job in Atascadero. She plays all over SLO County, including Sensorio in Paso Robles, the Siren in Morro Bay, and Stolo Vineyards in Cambria. He recorded for New York's Fast Folk label, which is now part of the Folkways collection at the Smithsonian. His songs have been compared with those of Jim Croce, Don McLean, Harry Chapin, and Steve Earle. As a touring folksinger, Key played the Philadelphia Folk Festival, Canadian folk festivals at Winnipeg and Owen Sound, and three times on the main stage of the Kerrville Folk Festival in Texas.
